This portrait was taken by Portrait photographer Steve McCurry and I believe that it is a successful portrait for several reasons. First, the color scheme is very pleasing to the eye because it contains only 2 colors, shades of green and brown,except for the whites of her eyes, which all go the together very nicely. Also I think that her eyes really stand out against everything and are the focal point which greatly adds to the strength of the image. The emotions of this girl, conveyed completely through her eyes really stands out and adds complexity to this otherwise simple image. For my project I am going to focus on simple and monochromatic color schemes with people's eyes being the focal point, and this image definetly demonstrates both of these characteristics very well making a very strong composition.
