For me, this image uses light to show the emotion of hope. As the light shines down upon his face, the subject is looking towards it with a trustful gaze and a slight smile, that makes me feel hopeful.
In this image, I feel that the photographer displays a feeling of sadness. The light looks like a sunset falling on the subject's blank face as she becomes consumed by the darkness. It gives me an opposite feeling than that of the first picture, one of sadness and loneliness.
For my project, I hope to capture the emotion of my subject by asking them to act how they feel in that moment.
