The first image uses back-lighting, which is a technique that I want to try and implement into my project. I feel like when back-lighting and deadpan are used together, it portrays the person in deep thought, especially in this image.
The second image really gives off a sense of relinquishment. The differentiation of the background shows how the woman could be moving from a darker period in her life to a brighter one. I feel like this image is the stronger of the two, mainly due to the lighting of the background.
