I really like the lighting in this image because of how much brighter her face is than the background. I also like that that background is very dark and the bright light adds nice contrast. The lighting in this conveys a feeling of happiness.
The lighting in this image is very successful in the sense that it creates a very sad and depressed feeling. The photo being monochromatic also adds to this feeling. I like how the person almost blends in with background, yet stands out enough to be able to see her.
