This portrait photographer used a technique of split lighting to beautifully cast a shadow on the left side of her face to where it is not visible. This type of lighting technique is called broad lighting. The models face is turned slightly and the light is brighter and stronger on one side of the face than the other. It is similar to split lighting, but the face is still visible and lit. This is great for most face portrait photography. I really like this because it can help show certain emotion by casting the brighter light on one side more, so that the whole image is unique and put together.
