james nachtwey
In this photograph, James Nachtwey captures the expression on his face with the scare. I think he was trying to say in this photo that the scare doesn't define the person but shows that he is strong and won't give up no matter what and that this is him. To prove this, he edits the photo to be black and white so that the viewer is not detracted with the background color or the color of the mans shirt, just that the photo blends so you look straight at the scare. For my portrait project I want to photograph one person with only half of their face showing to "hide" their personality or show that they can be shown as something with out seeing the whole thing, and then photograph someone with their whole face showing to show how easy it is to read a person a judge them. I would put paint, or a scarf, or a hat on the person so it carvers half of their face.
