I think this image has extremely successful lighting. The bright background creates a horrific almost inhuman effect on the subject. The shadow created on the profile of the subject creates drama, adding to the horrific effect.
This image is also effective for the same reasons. The solid background creates an emphasis on the subject. The soft lighting and monochromaticity creates a uniform controlled feeling. The lighting from behind and above creates a horrific feel while also being comforting.
For my studio project i had the idea of juxtaposing three different subjects in and out of studio. for in studio having a paniced almost robotic feel to them and then in out of studio have the subjects completely relaxed and serene
