I think this image was successful in the way that I like how the plant was centered in the shot. I think it looks appealing because a little part and the very end of the petals is cut out of the image. I also like the angle the image was shot at. If it were straight on, you wouldn't be able to see all the details in the plant such as the center, etc. If it were a birds eye view, you wouldn't be able to see the depth the center has. I don't think the image was successful in the sense that there are distracting aspects to the background. Right behind the plant, you can see the leaves and stems and my eye was dawn to that almost immediately which I think takes away from the image.
