Russel Phillips
Hinsdale Theater Auditorium
1985
Russell Phillips took this picture at the Hinsdale Theater Auditorium in 1985. Phillips being born in 1954 was obviously affected by the cold war in some way or another. This was a very depressing time for Phillips due to him having to grow up in the transition between Korean War and Vietnam War. This picture has more of an eery, vintage feel since the only source of light is artificial and dimmed. At first glance you don't notice the foreign object that is not exactly centered but is pushed a tad to the front right. This object keeps the observer wondering and curious about the image. This pushes the observer to bring more ideas to a simple picture.
