Julie Blackmon
New Chair, 2014
This image by Julie Blackmon has a great use of the different color combinations. There is red and cyan, yellow and blue also magenta ad green. I think the different color combinations really help with the mood of the picture. The shape of the bright red chair with the calm yet exciting cyan sky provide a sense of new change to the photo. The yellow chair and the red chair contrast one another in texture, color and shape. Half of this picture is very clean and new which gives the viewer a light perspective while the other side is very heavy and dirty which weighs down the perspective. In turn the balance each other out. There is also a great variety in this picture. The depth of view is very bold in the front while the colors stay monochromatic in the back. I think the lines on the roofs of the houses are very clean and well put together but, the lines in the center of the photo are very diagnoal and all go different directions. The horizontal line is also not as straight as it could be. The cropping is even and overall the picture is really nice and I like it. I also like the boy who has a bag covering his face in the bottom right corner. :))
