I think this photo is really strong, using many elements and principles of design as well as the qualities of a great photo. This photo is unsaturated and also black and white, which adds to the somber feeling of the photo. It is really strong because of the way it was shot, with a very shallow depth of field focusing only on the cup and man's hands. It's really nice how the look on the man's face is still present but since it is in the background and very blurry, the feeling is spread throughout the photo rather than the main focus. I think that makes the viewer more calm and sad, which makes them also feel warm and fuzzy because of the cup of hot drink. The emphasis in this photo is the man's cup and grubby hands, which makes the unity of the photo stronger by sense of home and hearth. These are the many successes of this photo and the only thing I would change would possibly be the image sharpening a bit more on the cup instead of being kind of fuzzy. But, in the same way, I think the fuzziness adds to the mood of the photo.
