I chose this picture to criticize because I thought it was very interesting. The first thing that I noticed about this photo was how you could not see the girl's face in the picture. Immediately, I thought that was a flaw but I realized that maybe the photographer is trying to have a bigger meaning by concealing the face. I see a lot of movement in this picture with all the bubbles and ripples, and I also see emphasis towards the girl. The photo may seem a little too dark to me, but I understand that the darkness of the photo may match it's theme. The only thing I would change in the picture is to include the half missing arm into the shot. The second thing I noticed about this photo was the words "happy" on the girl's shirt. It seems very ironic to me because the photo is quite gloomy. Happy isn't a great match with the mood of this photo. I really like how the photographer probably did this on purpose to make questions pop up in the viewers mind. I believe this photo represents how some people hide their sadness with a "happy" face when they feel like they are drowning in their own sorrow. That is what I depict of this photo.
