Gallery Photo

I chose Sophie Lautner's photo of the mother and child with triangles around their heads over lapping each other. I chose this image because the person that views this will think of a mother child bond representing to the linked triangles. This will leave the viewer with the emotion of love, unity, and family. For my project I am capturing a teen's different emotions and how she expresses them, much like the photo that Sophie took.

final project

my final project idea is skin. I'm going to do all portraits showing the diversity of skin, offing on folds, wrinkles, stretches and emphasizing all the different ways skin can look. the whole project will have a color scheme

Theme for final project

My theme for final project is waiting. On average, human beings will spend 6 months of their lives waiting in a line, so my goal is to capture people waiting in different places like bus terminals or in lines for different things.

Munnerlyn Photo

This photo was the best one I saw in the Mannerly. One aspect of this photo I really like is how symmetrical it is. It feels very balanced because of the equal number of rails, columns, and how the girl and the door are both in the center. I also like how the girl is in the center because that adds a little bit of emphasis. Also, the door adds to this emphasis because it is darker than most of the photo so this helps the girl stand out even more.

bailey gallery

i like this image because of how the stairs are just aligning the outside of the dress. And how the yellow of the flowers is a pop of color similar to the hair. Also how the dress flows slightly to the right of the stairs, then how her left leg goes in the opposite direction with a black heel at the bottom. And how the stairs and flow of the dress pulls your eye up and down the image. I think my project will be as successful because I like to pull your eye all the way around the image, using different colors and shapes to draw your eye to a certain points from the image to show the meaning of an image instead of just plain letting it show up on its own.
In David Podvia's construction set was amazing in my opinion. I really liked the way he used the lightning to portray more depressing scenes. I liked his theme of more depressing side of industrial construction and the way the lighting exemplified that. David did a great job in how he shot it in term of cleanness.

Gallery Picture

This photo is very successful because of the lighting and incorporation of the lines. The way the lighting and lines create 3 grids of different Color. This creates a different mood across each of them.

Munnerlyn Photo

The best photo I saw in the mannerly was this one of people looking down on a city and taking pictures of it. The reflections in the window of the people taking the photo are very interesting and add movement to the photo. I also really like the point of view this image is taken at which proportions very nicely the people looking down at the city below. Also the dark shadows of the people nicely contrast with the sun hitting the bottom window sill creating a nice contrast and movement of the eye. In my project I am also going to try and focus on good point of view and contrast to move your eye around the images.

theme for final project

For my final project I am going to use the theme reflections. In this series I am going to shoot images with reflections in mirrors of people and objects, reflections on water, and people reflecting on themselves. I am going to use a variety of people and a variety of places, such as cityscapes, landscapes, and stores with a runway feel.

The image I chose in the photo gallery reminds me of peace, it is the image of the girl drinking the coffee. Its like when you are worried about something and that one person who says its going to be ok, causes you to be calm and not worry as much or not at all. This really relates to me in a way that I worry a lot. In the image the girl seems so at peace almost as if all of her worry's have faded away. This was definitely my favorite image in the photo gallery. I have been trying to capture images like this and will keep trying for my future projects.

David Podvia

I think David Podvia's  project on construction was the best. I thought all the pictures had consistency in both presenting the project and colors. My favorite picture was the one under the train track. I like how beautiful the lights look on the tracks. I also love how the sharp blue and yellow compliment each other. I think this picture best represents the project because it really shows the beauty of construction cites even when they don't seem like they would be special,.

Munnerlyn Photo

My favorite photo in the Munnerlyn is the photo of the 2 girls leaning back to back with the lights around them. I like how the lights around are very blurry but bright. The girls are the main focus which I like. I like how it is a dark image but there is some light. I am going to try to do the same idea that this photo has and and put it in the photos I will be taking. I also like the expression on the girls face because they don't look scare or sad they just look like they are there.

Munnerlyn photo

I love a certain image that is in the Munnerlyn because it reminds me of my theme and how I am going to take my photos for this project. The photo is of a girl leaning on another in what appears to be a wall in an alley. When I look at it, I think of hopeless despair and fear. It reminded me of fear and how the one girl is dependent on the other girl due to fear. I plan to make my project just as great as the photo in the Munnerlyn by having all my photos look mysterious and leaving people to question what they are about, what happened in the photo, why the person is doing certain things in the photo, and what caused the fear in the photo.

Gallery Photo

I chose this photo because of the way it captures peoples' reactions to something beautiful. I think it is good because of how it shows people taking pictures to remember the experience, but forgoing the actual experiencing of it. The photo incorporates rhythm and movement within it as well as having great lighting. I want to make my pictures have good lighting like this photo.

gallery photo

I chose this image because of it's simplicity. This photo really drew me in with its bland colors and minimalistic qualities. In my project I want to replicate the simple theme but make sure the project has enough information for the viewer to understand the project in whole. I think this is the best photo in the gallery because of its lack of variety. I am a true believer in the "less is more" lifestyle..

lillllllietritttttttt

I chose this photo because i really enjoy the repetition of the triangular shape throughout the image. The image also has very nice rhythm and a good use of asymmetry. I think the utilization of varying elements of design is what truly makes this image successful. I hope to incorporate many elements of design to my images to keep the viewer interested. Also, the structure of the image, as stated by the theme, brings a wholesome sense of unity to the image that I would like to include in my project.

very pretty image

I like this image because of the darkness. I love that her dress and the door are matching colors. I think this is the best image because of how simple it is. I am going to make my image this good by staying with neutral colors to keep it cool and calm ;))

Lady In The Snow

The photo I chose was taken by Sophie Laettner. The objective of her photo series was to capture a sense of organization. I like the photo because it is something unusual. The edits she did to it raises many questions which made it catch my eye. I also enjoy the shallow depth of field along with the choice of the woman's apparel. All together I enjoy the message this photo conveys.

art pic in mun

The picture I chose in the Munerlyn was the picture of Alex Whitehead by Kristen Whitehead. I chose this photo because I really like the expression on his face and the color of his tie.  In the picture the color of his pants and his shirt match he background of the wall and window. But then his tie is bright blue and really draws your eyes to it. I will make my picture just as great by really capturing the expression on my model's facer and really bringing emphasis to a single object of element in my photos.

Final blog pay pay

For my final project I had the idea to make it about Fear. That would be my theme for the whole project and the statement would be "there is nothing to fear but fear itself". All of the beginning photos are going to be things a person would be afraid of pertaining to death. The last couple of photos I am planning on taking will be about just the fear itself abstractly instead of the other photos that are concrete fears. Most of the photos will be about death and things that cause death that can uprise fear.

Gallery

I think that Addison Mathis had the most successful project because her theme was very consistent and the colors throughout her project are also very consistent. My favorite picture that she took was the one inside the building, looking down on the many people that are looking out over the city.

Addison Mathis

I chose this image from Addison's collection because of how she captures the colors in this image so well. Also, I chose this image because of how she stopped the motion in the image so clearly. There is nothing blurred in this image, everything is stopped. I want to be able to take images where nothing at all is moving, not even the slightest thing. I think if this picture was taken at any other angle, the image wouldn't be as successful.

Sophie Lattener - Jaida Sanders

The exibiton I like the most from the senior show was Sophie Lattener's. I really liked her concept and I think it was excited really well. Something that made my favorite shot really successful was the shape she choes to go with the models demeanor.  I think that picture went with her concept the best.
Something I can do to make my final this successful is really excite my theme and follow my concept through emotion and technique. I think this will really tie in all my pictures and help portray my concept.

Gallery

I think this image was extremely successful because of the meaning behind it. I think the person in the photo was chosen very thoughtfully. By putting a person who comes across as being dark and gloomy in front of a building with a sign that says, "Open to all," I think the meaning behind the image is clearly portrayed. Additionally, I think the lighting in the photograph corresponds with the actual objects in the image because it is very gloomy. I also like the symmetrical balance -- it helps contribute to the success of the image. I think Addison Mathis was very successful in this project overall, but that this photo was by far her best.

David Podvia's Picture

I picked David Podvia's picture under the railroads because I feel like this picture took a good bit of effort to get to and the colors blend very well. The colors blend well because there is blue and yellow, complimentary colors. I also feel the lighting in this photo is superb and fits the photo amazingly. The amount of effort it took for him to get this photo also helps me see his dedication to getting the perfect picture.

David Podvia's pic

I chose a photo from David Podvia's series that is a construction site. I like this photo because of the color scheme it shows. It also portrays very nice lines that take the viewers eye up and down the photo. When i first saw this photo, I was immediately attracted to it because of how clear the photo it turned out to be. This photo portrays all the qualities a good photo should have and this is why this photo is amazing.

senior exhibit

I chose one of Sophie Laettner's photos. I chose the portrait of Gena. I chose this image because I felt she had a powerful expression on her face. Gena had a very content look which had a lot of meaning to me because the background was the beach at either sunrise or sunset. That has a lot of meaning to me because whenever I think of the beach I think of simplicity and happiness. I hope to capture this same kind of vibe in my images because the theme I am going to have is simplicity and relaxation. Also, Sophie's color choices for Gena's shirt really worked together with the background because they were both warm tones which was very nice of the eyes.

Final Katie Cofran

My idea for the final project is to create the idea of new beginnings or a fresh start. I hope to include ways that show how a person is influenced to become the person that they are.

powerful image `= laurenpress

i personally liked kristens picture of the flowers on a girls arm with a bandaid. I think this image is really powerful because to me it looked like an IV. and IV is usually filled with fluid to make you get better when you're dehydrated. In this case it was filled with something just as healing and that whole idea of being wounded it so interesting to me. I would aspire to make something just as powerful as kristens image series.

addison mathis

I beliebe that Addison Mathis created the most successful and powerful series. I believe that the main message behind the project, equality, is portrayed in a way that is very abstract, but once the viewer takes the time to look it, it becomes obvious. My favorite image in her series is the aerial view of a building from another building, because I believe that it shows that from above, we are all equal.

haunted

For my theme for my final project, I chose haunted. All of my images will give off a sort of haunted/ scary vibe. In order to create this feeling, I will use photoshop to manipulate the photos so that it appears there are ghosts. I also plan to use the lighting in the different locations to give off the desired feeling.
my theme for this project is darkness. In this project I am going to capture darkness through emotions conveyed by the photos as well as physical darkness. I would use darkness to represent things that people try to keep in the dark like poverty or abuse. I would use neutral tones backgrounds as well as neutral colored clothing and a variation of lighting to give each photo a different emotion.

Jaida Sanders

my idea for this blog is to tell a story though all 10 pictures. Not really sure what the story will be about but it will be creative. I think this will be fun!

i am avatar

my photo project idea is to capture water, earth, fire, and wind. all the elements and how they affect people. I want to capture in an image the feelings of all these things. I want to do this so that way when you look at an image from this series you go "Oh, i know how that would feel ".

Final Project

For my final project, I want to take things that are usually perceived as dull or ugly and try to make interesting pictures about them. Things like streets or rotting wood are some of the ideas of subjects that I've come up with so far.

Final Poject

For my project I will be photographing the Ribault Monument and its significance to Jacksonville. The Ribult Monument marks the site where John Ribault landed in Florida, and yet is often overlooked. I want to center my project around this monument because of what it means to Jacksonville and because it is an important part of history that does not get the recognition that it deserves.

Final project theme

For the final project I will probably make my overall theme stress. This means to be in a disoriented state of mind if it is school, sports, home, or other things. I want to incorporate this is to my final project because everyone in their life is always stressed constantly. I might also do plainness  or simplicity. This means just the simple things in life and living of the necessities.

Final project theme idea

For my Final project I knew for sure that I wanted it to be meaningful and possibly include black and white images. My idea is to use emotions shown on images, for example happiness and sadness. People say words don't define them but the describe us, so I wanted to portray that through emotions. I will have the people I photograph write down on a piece of paper the emotion they are portraying in the image. I will the photo-shop the word onto the image. Then at the final result the images would have their word describing the person's emotion and the person portraying the emotion.

final project idea

My idea for the final project is relaxation. I wish to capture things that make people relaxed. As well as different locations that make people feel stress free and blissful. I think a good way to capture this would be through specific clothing and different props and back drops.

Final Project Idea Proposal

A topic/theme that I might make my project about is the idea of music and how certain genres/songs make one feel. Music is and has been a big part of my life since I was a kid and there are many memories I have that relate to music and how I feel listening to certain songs. Whenever I'm stressed or just want to have fun, I listen to my favorite songs currently and older songs that actually never get old. Within this project, I am going to explore some reactions to certain songs and how they feel about them and the memories with that song. I might incorporate some things associated with music, like dance movements or headphones/electronics along with the feelings my subjects express to different genres. Overall, the goal of my theme for this project will be all the emotions and memories evoked from music and it's impact as a whole. Also, I am considering adding a few photos on how one's life would be without music and all the things associated with this art form.

final project

For my project, I am going to take photos of the small things in life that are extremely annoying. I plan on capturing all irritating things, from crooked paintings on walls to people's moods. This project may be difficult to do because I do not want it to be too simple, but I also do not want the complexity of the images to outweigh the idea behind it. I look forward to doing this project because I think it will be fun finding the annoying things we come across in our everyday lives.

final

I have two themes in mind. My first idea was graffiti. I wanted to express through my pictures the positive and negative sides of graffiti. I wanted to show the difference between people's true art versus vandalism. My second idea was to set up a crime scene throughout my pictures. In each picture i would give some sort of clue or an event that happened. By the end of the class I will line up several people in one picture and have the class guess who it is.

final project theme

I want to expand on my theme of gender roles for the colors project. I want to incorporate pink and blue paint. I will try to encompass different aspects of what girls and boys are supposed to be and how gender roles affect people.

final project idea

My final project idea is based off of calmness. It is about what makes me calm and peaceful. Calmness can be represented by the places that make you calm and the people that make you calm.

LIFE

To be alive in the day today is great i have no clue why anybody would pass up that opportunity. My plan is to show the joy and living that is in all of us . I plan to show that with brightness and springing with activity. For example to show the joy that connotates with sports and nature. The best things in life are free and that is true with nature as well as sports as you wok for one and one is on behalf of mother nature.

final project

For my final project, I want to match people with their inner animal side. I've always played games with my friends about who looks like what animal, and that is what I may incorporate into my project. I believe this would be a fun theme to shoot with friends in the forest or any other natural habitats that an animal would live in. Maybe I would use face paint or a mask to represent the animal side.

Simplicity

My theme is simplicity. Simplicity to me means cleansliness and no clutter. I still have not gathered my ideas to how I am going to display simplicity. I think when I am taking photos, I will have a few requirements: Is it clutter free? Is it simple? Are there too many colors? With these requirements I believe I can display this theme.

final project idea

For my final project I want to show how the life around you and the colors throughout your life can change from when your a child to when your an adult. It shows how as you get older things will slowly fade away and colors wont express such a young feeling any more. As when you are a child things around you seem to always be covered in colors that can make you happy all the time and we seem to live in this lovey dovey world. As to when things change when we grow older things start to become more simple and bland and the adult responsibilities seem to overcome all the colors and consume our life.

my ROCKIN idea

My theme will show the progression of death, the death of a plant, loved one, celebrity, food, tradition. Most of these will be shown through my photos, my idea is to show a person starting off perfectly fine, then through ought the series you journey with the person to the stages that lead up to drug overdose including the internal struggle and external struggle. For the still life I will be comparing the neglect of caring for something to the neglect of caring for someone. The items I will be using for still life will be a plant or a food.

pls dont kill me im an insecure quail

So here is the thing: I am actually so paranoid of death it permeates every aspect of my life. And it's not like ok yeah I don't want to die, it's like death is a paralyzing fear that grips hold of me like a child grabbing their favorite toy. So, for my project, I chose for my concept that I would show all of the ways I am afraid of death. Fear is the inspiration for my entire life so why not let it be the inspiration for my project, yk?

Street Theme

The theme of my street project was based on people shopping, enjoying the fresh, or spending their time working at their job or in a meeting.
This is the theme of my project because all the photos were taken in san marco. The theme of my street project corresponds with the people in the images because most of them are doing what they enjoy on their free time. Some of the people in the photos look as if they are doing something important or in a meeting with another person.

Street Theme

A theme that appeared throughout my project was the process of eating breakfast. There is the waiting for, the making of, and the eating of food. Each picture follows the process of which pancakes are created. Whether it is ingredients or leaving the diner, everything comes back to the pancakes. This project is not simply about the food though, it is about noticing the little things in everyday life, things that others are not aware of, like the signs on the wall or a sugar shaker with googly eyes. These small things that play a role into our daily lives, like eating breakfast, hold a special meaning to us, and should not be passed over.

Street

The idea of my project was to display the theme of simplicity of life throughout a neighborhood that still possesses the main qualities of nature. I took pictures of things I found throughout my neighborhood such as cars, houses, signs, children, and animals. I believe these all do a great job of representing my theme. In my photos I am presented they symbolize the style of neighborhood I live in and show which neighborhood I live in. My photos also present the vegetation around my neighborhood in an extravagant fashion.

By: Ward Jarvis

just meme myself and i

The theme of my project is solitude. These photos represent the choice to be alone, not loneliness necessarily. This solitude can carry over to being by oneself in a crowed room, but standing or at least feeling alone. My photos all have a very sterile immediate appearance, barely emotion evoking. It is only until one looks throughout the feeling across all of the photos of the series. The person must dig deep and examine the allegory of human existence to be able to comprehend this series, or all of my photos in general. These photos are either a relatively empty scene at least devoid of human life or are depicting individuals who are condemned to a life of solitude, as all humans are. While humans seem to be social creatures, everyone enters and exits this world the same way: alone.
The overall concept/theme of this project was to capture people being people. I wanted to show peoples lifestyle and how the vary. I also wanted to capture how people can make several uses of a single environment.

Street Carter Stankard

After returning to my street project compositions, I found that the area in San Marco that I shot became a natural setting instead of the industrial setting that first comes to mind when viewing the photos. The leaves on the ground near the train tracks in one of the photos gives a natural tone to a seemingly industrious place. A lot of the photos in my project have brick walls, metal tracks, and heavy trains, but these settings are filled with lively people and nature.

Street Theme

The theme of my street project developed into man vs nature. My project features many serene settings that were then interrupted by man made structures. Large, ugly, concrete bridges jut out into peaceful waters. Sometimes man made structures and nature can form a peaceful cohesion with each other. In this case, man destroys the beauty of nature with their "necessary" structures like bridges. I felt my project really showed this theme throughout.

street

The theme of my project is loneliness and being uninvited. In the the photo above, all of the cars  symbolize that there is a gathering or party that i am not invited too. This unvintation to this party shows the loneliness or solitude of the photographer. Also the rest of the photos are of other people's houses, cars, yards, ect. How there is no people in any of the photographs symbolizes real loneliness an solitude.

street

For this project I tried to capture people who are strange in some way. Most of the people I put in this project had interesting facial features, clothes, hair, or facial expressions. There are so many people who aren't considered normal around us in our everyday lives. It wasn't until I did this project I never really appreciate how diverse people are. Because of this project, I payed attention to people's pink, purple, or even orange hair or people's Hawaiian or leopard print shirts. I tried to choose pictures that encompassed people's obscure differences. My favorite picture was one of the back an old man going through a birthday card and candy aisle on a wheelchair in Publix. The man had a prosthetic leg. The birthday cards on the left of him had sings going along the aisle that said "kids' birthday" and then "anyone's birthday". The man is in the kids section and seems like he is looking for candy. I like this picture because it makes the man seem like he is thinking of when he was younger and able to walk.

Hard work - dedication

My intended theme of the street project was to display a working class image and or mentality about it . I did this or attempted to this by portraying the people behind it as well as the building and structures that resemble it . For example the Sea horse a not so luxurious hotel that is ruff around the edges similar to the hardcore working class people I  was trying to represent in this situation. Another example the kid with his mom shows by the way they dress that both parents work hard to support for the kid . The worn chevrolet work truck speaks for itself in it's look. The house that I photographed is under construction and the man that lives there is a very hard worker but the finish on the house suggests a working class in a stereotypical nature.

street

The generic theme of my street project is what people do to make extra cash. I went to a flea market and people sold what they could to make some money. The person in the picture above sells tires. All my photos are low in saturation and color to represent how working can be hard and people think of working as a boring chore to do and get over with. At the flea market there were people washing and packing fruit while others sold bicycles. The lighting in the flea market was naturally dark so my photos came out under exposed to light.

Pay Leeby

Originally, I didn't have a theme for my project but as I looked at all of the pictures combined I could see a theme start to emerge. All of the images have a similar place where they were taken. They were all in areas where people usually do things on the weekend. Whether it is going to a hair salon, or a nail salon, or grocery shopping, they all have to do with the womanly activities or casualties on a weekend. I would say that my theme is being grateful for the little things that a lot of people in the world don't have an opportunity to even do, like grocery shop, get nails done, or get their hair done.

michelle is from the streets

my theme was inspired my the daily struggles of life. For example when a woman gives you mean stares, or when a hipster man walks by too fast. I really liked the color scheme in most of my pictures because it shows the light feel I was going for. When taking my pictures I looked out for people with stories and then later looking back on the pictures thought about what there story would be, and how in general their life is. thats all xoxo rich homie quan

Street Theme

The theme of my photos is to be peaceful and calm. Throughout my whole project the photos are taken at a time of day when people get to come home from work or school, or sports, and just get to relax. The sun goes down and things become calm around the nieghboor hood. People generally start to stay inside or go out for a dinner with family or friends for a relaxing evening at home. Like in this picture, the wind chime isn't blowing all over the place making noise, it's calm and still, just like the people around it  are as well. I like this image especially because of this settle tone of orange and red that match the house, and then the different shades of green around it that give it this calm setting around something that normally moves.

street

My theme for this project was based off of finding unique and original people. If I saw someone that stood out to me, I wanted to take a picture of them. In downtown St. Augustine there are many different colors and places you wouldn't see every day. When I put the interesting people by the colorful setting it was magical! My overall theme is uniqueness. .

Street

The theme of my photos were to show the value of people, though I was in a store the people captured in the photos had their own story to tell. Every photo has its own story. For example, this image that is shown you may have multiple perceptions of this, but it doesn't tell the same one as my other images. This image shows the girl being over exited about her reflection, causing her to dance to see how she looks while she dances. Showing her innocence of childhood. In another image it may show the bond between a mother and child no matter where the background. While also capturing the same concept of showing childish innocence but not through the same story.

Theme of Street Photo

One theme that I saw throughout the majority of my photos was the theme of familial love. The theme is visible through a simple hug, hand hold, or holding of another being. The area I chose to shoot in is very family-oriented, so it makes sense that this was a theme that surfaces from my images. I believe that in this particular image, the placement of the car and it being in motion makes this image more successful than if in this moment, that car had not been driving by.

Brooke theme

In my project, my theme was movement. In most of my pictures there is a specific direction that the photo moves. The streets and sidewalks created movement as well as narrowed buildings. There is also a consistency with vibrant colors in my photos. All of my photos are also slightly off center to the right which helps create movement. There is a warm temperature about all of my photos and they were all taken outdoors.

jAIDA sANDERS

I think that the biggest theme my project has in it is Poverty. I went around town to different places from where I normally hag out. The parts of town I chose were very impoverished. I think that the pictures in my project are very lifeless and don't have a lot of serious meaning, which would be one place I fell short in displaying poverty. One thing that did turn to be somewhat successful was
the placement of things. Like there is a picture of a man sitting at a bus stop which is right in front of a save a lot grocery store. I generally think that the placement is very ironic but also made the picture my most successful in the project.
There are some other things I wish I would have done and there were things that I wouldn't change. If  I had know what types of pictures I was taking earlier on I think my theme could have been a lot more prominent. I released it mainly displayed poverty very late on in my shoot.

street themes

For my project, I went to Fresh Market and Hyppo popsicles to take pictures. I tried to capture the many vibrant colors and many emotions all around. I think the lighting of Fresh Market and colors of the products really created the idea of freshness. The many fruits, vegetables, and flowers helped the store feel welcoming and helped continue to theme of fresh foods. When I went to Hyppo, the lighting and the layout of the actual store helped make the popsicles seem fresh and organic.

Hip themes

After looking at my images from the previous project, I discovered several themes. One of the themes was "Cool". As in the blue and green color scheme and relaxed feeling, when in reality it was quite hot and humid outside. This photo includes several shades of blue and some shades of green. In my opinion those colors are relaxing.

In some of my other pictures the theme that came off the pictures was a more dark and mysterious theme. In some images shadows engulfed the image and made the atmosphere darker. In the images where the atmosphere is darker, the subject of the image is a person. I seem to be following the subject which gives the image a mysterious theme. Although there are many pops of green in this photo, I stand by my dark and mysterious theme.

Street

A theme in all of the pictures in my project is the color green. The color green makes me think about nature or environment and this project captures people in their natural environments. Also because these people are in their natural environment and did not know I was taking their picture they all look relaxed with what they are doing- sitting, walking or talking to other people. In this series of pictures there is may different people doing many different things in the same place.

Street Themes

I did my project at a regatta. While taking the pictures, I was trying to capture the different emotions people feel at regattas. The emotions I captured were stressed, relaxed, and being focused. For the stressed pictures, I wanted to tried to capture people in a meeting with their coach, which is not only stressful, but kind of scary, and people that just look stressed. For relaxed, I took pictures of people that are sitting in the tent socializing and not thinking about the regatta, people sleeping, and people doing absolutely nothing. Finally, for people being focused, I took pictures of parents that were focusing on their kids racing, rowers having meetings, and rowers carrying their boats and getting the boats ready to race.

I feel the theme of my street project could have been crew because my project was taken at the boathouse. Also, because everyone that was captured in the project had just gotten out of practice so they were either in workout clothes or sweaty. This would also be an appropriate theme for the photos because everyone in that was photographed have a love for crew because that's how they spend virtually all of their free time and they are at the boathouse everyday after school. Some even weight train before school a few days a week. I think it is very cohesive to the content of my photos because of the setting and environment they were taken in.

Street Style Themes

In my series, some themes that emerged were the diversity of people within one community place and the interactions between those different people. 5 Points is a very open and accepting place, and I tried to capture what people's experiences that day were. I was pleased with the different types of people I captured, like a family, couple, group of friends eating, and a girl waiting for the bus alone. I feel like all of their facial expressions and body language were very natural and relatable, which helped tie my project up as a whole very well. Being outside rather than an inclosed place, the series seemed much more open and vibrant, which just further intensified the feelings on citizens' faces. I made my selections by keeping an eye out for more than just average people and also special or meaningful interactions between them, like the old man meeting the younger men and the lady laughing really hard with her friend in front of a nurses' party.

swweet themez y0!

My street project didn't have a direct theme that is in all the photos but, if i had to create one or come up with one, mine would be the idea of needing material things to be happy. I think its ironic at the mall there are so many sad and happy people. The lady in this photo isn't carrying any bags and ironically enough is happy to be there and see her friends, she's not smiling because her jack rodgers (sandals that most women from ortega/ preppy people wear no shade bc i wear them too lol)were on sale, it was genuinely because of her friends. (she saw her friends unexpectedly).
The little boy in this photo is super happy and was alone, i didn't see him with any parents money, or bags.

Another image that represents this theme would be this picture of two teenagers holding hands leaving urban with no bags of stuff. They didn't need to purchase things to be happy, neither did the little boys and neither did the teens.
In conclusion my theme is simply how you don't need material things to be happy and my point of these images was to prove it.

street theme

In my pictures, I tried to capture how people have different emotions at family gatherings. Some people like to stand around and talk, and others like to go outside do things. I tried to capture a lot of the emotions on the spectrum.
For the photos i took for my street photography project, i think a recurring theme is the theme of people doing what they love. an example of that would be all of the people i took pictures of fishing. another example is the picture i took of a man with a metal detector looking for metal on the beach. and the final one is i took a picture of some people running and exercising.

baseball parks are spoopy

the theme that arose from my project was the darker side of the ball park. my images had a very dark undertone, my opening and closing images both portrayed fear. i also chose to present images in which people had mysterious or fearful expressions. there was a surplus of police officers at the game, and i had a picture of cops ( and they look quite intimidating ) there was an image of a small kid going in for a hug from the friendly mascot southpaw, but he looks very afraid. long story short baseball games are spooky

Street

For the pictures I took for my street project, I think the theme of my project is graffiti. As I walked down the streets of downtown Jacksonville, I noticed all the graffiti in the alleys and on the side of the buildings. When I went to a certain alley, no part of the wall was left empty. I think that the graffiti I was able to capture in my pictures is a cool statement of people's work.

Street

One theme that emerged from this series of photos is the idea of not always putting your best effort into looking put-together when going to Publix. All of the people in this series are dressed very casually. They do not appear to have put a lot of time into getting ready, suggesting that going to the grocery store is a usual part of their routine. Another theme that was portrayed from this set of images was intensity. Every person in the photos is very focused on what they are doing, whether they are aware of it or not. From picking out cereal to ordering fried chicken, the people in this series seem to come across as being very serious this place, possibly because they put little effort into their appearance, since they do not have to necessarily worry about anyone judging them in a negative or positive way.

Lighting Portraits- Carter Stankard

Carter Stankard

I like this portrait's lighting because it is evenly lit on both sides. This helps the image feels asymmetric allowing the detail of the face not be the main focus of the photo.

This portrait is well lit because the black background allows the details of the face to easily be seen. This really helps the overall tone of the composition.

lighting

The technique of lighting is called backlight. As the name clearly explains, the light is near the back of the model and shines where only part of the model can be seen. This lighting style really brings out the details like her hair and the smoke of the cigarette. I find this technique really mysterious and intriguing.
In this picture the artist used rim lighting. This technique outlines the model, in this case a cat, to show the figure of the model. This technique enhances the viewers perception.

Portrait Lighting

The first picture uses loop lighting which creates a shadow on the left of the model's nose, face and neck.

The second picture uses butterfly lighting creating shadows under the model's nose and defines the model's cheek bones

This photo is taken by Annie Leibovitz, a photographer born in Connecticut. This photo captures the color blue in her eyes. I feel like this image shows the beauty in her. She looks all dirty and lonely but then you see her bright eyes. Your eyes go directly to hers. Unlike her photos, my photos will be more bright and saturated.

Lighting Techniques

The lighting technique used in this photo is called Rembrandt lighting, and I think it makes the woman in the photo seem to have more than one aspect to her, as one side is darker and one is lighter.

The lighting technique used in this photo is broad lighting, and it makes the woman's face seem as if she were coming out of the shadows and is skeptical of her new environment.

I think the lighting on this photo is good because everything is dark except some parts of her face , when you look at her your eyes go right to those parts.

This photo's lighting I like because she is almost glowing because of the light on her, the light highlights parts of her face and makes them stand out.
